I want to thank all my supporters from across Wisconsin for all the hard work they poured into this race. Parents, teachers and school leaders knocked on thousands of doors, made countless phone calls and, most importantly, passionately advocated for our kids.
This election offered voters a crystal clear choice between two very different philosophies about education. Voters spoke loudly and clearly, affirming their commitment to Wisconsin’s strong public schools and calling for a much-needed reinvestment to support the over 870,000 public school kids in our state.
We’ve accomplished so much over the last four years, working with leaders in both political parties to adopt tougher academic standards, improve educator effectiveness, implement a more dynamic assessment system, and start new accountability system.
I look forward to continuing this great work and fighting to make sure every child is a graduate ready for college or career. Most immediately, I look forward to working with the legislature to craft a state budget that invests in our public school kids.
